The Stress Awakens: Tapping Into Your Inner Force for Mental Strength
In the high-stakes world of information technology, professionals often face intense pressure, leading to chronic stress and burnout. This presentation, inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, explores how CIOs, CISOs and IT leaders can tap into their "inner force" to build mental strength and resilience. Participants will learn to recognize stress warning signs and practice techniques like mindful breathing (“Jedi breathing”) to stay calm under pressure. The session also covers mental performance skills to reframe stress as a manageable challenge, enhancing decision-making and focus. Interactive activities, including a quiz to identify hidden stressors, will engage attendees, offering practical tools to reduce stress and foster resilience. By the end, participants will understand the foundational components to manage stress effectively—both individually and within teams—channeling their inner Jedi to thrive in the cybersecurity and technology worlds.

What’s Your CVSS Score?
Every vulnerability announcement comes with a score. We’ve all seen them. We’ve all panicked when they are high. But where did that score come from, how was it calculated, and what is up with that string of random letters next to it? Those answers and more in this quick introduction to where Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) scores come from, what changed in the new and improved version 4, and how you are supposed to actually recalculate these scores for your unique environment.

Fired, Overworked, Ignored -- Breaking the mold of CISO
In many ways, the CISO might be the worst job in Information Security. You’ve seen the headlines. Another CISO fired after a breach and is now under SEC scrutiny. Another security leader fighting an uphill battle underfunded, underpaid, overstressed, and not a part of the decision making table. For many, reaching the “pinnacle” of their career as a CISO feels more like a death sentence than a launching pad. So, what if we’ve been thinking about this all wrong?
This talk challenges the conventional wisdom of IT leadership and makes the case for why CISOs should stop being the last line of defense...and start running the whole technology show. We’ll explore the reality of the CISO career path, the fundamental disconnect between security and IT leadership, and why organizations desperately need CISOs to step up, not just to secure the business, but to lead it.
In this talk, Bryan will weave in stories from his own career in Security and IT, revealing how CISOs who embrace this shift can redefine their careers.

Mind Games - Exploiting and Defending GenAI Applications
As organizations eagerly adopt generative AI capabilities into their applications, new attack surfaces and vulnerabilities are emerging that traditional app security approaches fail to address. In this presentation, we will examine the unique security challenges posed by Large Language Model (LLM) applications through the lens of the 2025 OWASP Top 10 for LLMs. Through live demonstrations and practical examples, we'll explore critical vulnerabilities including prompt injection, sensitive information disclosure, and system prompt leakage. Attendees will learn how attackers can manipulate LLMs to bypass security controls, access unauthorized information, and exploit excessive agency in GenAI applications. The session will also provide mitigation strategies for developers and security professionals working in this space. Whether you're developing GenAI applications or securing them, this presentation offers essential insights into this rapidly expanding area of application security.5:30 PM - 6:15 PM

GRC Is Broken—How Do We Fix It?
The rise of automation has streamlined compliance, but it has also devalued it, creating a “SOC-in-a-box” phenomenon where certifications like SOC 2 have become meaningless checkboxes. While these tools speed up processes, they often overlook the cultural and operational depth needed for true security maturity. In this session, we’ll explore why “everyone having SOC 2” diminishes its impact, how these trends undermine the original purpose of compliance, and what we can do to rebuild a meaningful GRC foundation. Through relatable analogies and real-world stories, you’ll walk away with practical steps to transform compliance from a sales tool into the backbone of a strong security program.

Bridging IT and OT: Tackling Cybersecurity Challenges in Operational Technology
"Operational Technology (OT)" refers to the computer systems that support industrial environments. This encompasses everything from simple manufacturing lines to building management systems that support data centers and critical infrastructure such as water treatment and electric facilities. Often these OT networks are supported by IT personnel, however, OT networks have vastly different needs in terms of infrastructure and cybersecurity. Shaunna will speak to the differences in IT vs OT cybersecurity: constraints in shutting down assets, isolating networks, challenges with legacy products and integration, and differences in vulnerability management, as well as building the IT/OT relationships necessary for navigating these challenges successfully.2:15 PM - 2:30 PM

The Evolution of Data Privacy
Have business in Europe? The European Union made data anonymization the bedrock of GDPR, their 2016 landmark regulation. But most privacy techniques aren’t as airtight as they claim. In 1996 the US Congress passed HIPAA, laying down guidelines to protect patients from identity theft by anonymizing healthcare datasets. A year later, someone identified the Governor of Massachusetts in one such anonymized dataset.
This talk is about the growing field of data anonymization, the arms race of increasingly better anonymization and identification techniques. From people reversing encryption, to quasi-attributes that hold just a little chunk of identifiable data to the mathematically intricate subfield of Differential Privacy, we delve into the iterations of this rapidly evolving and increasingly relevant field.
